Gretchen Marie Stiers

Gretchen M. Stiers, age 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024. Gretchen was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on November 12th, 1946 to George and Catherine (Bettle) Metzger. After many years of hard work and dedication, Gretchen retired from her job at UPS and enjoyed spending her days with her loving husband of 49 years, Paul. She was a big fan of baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds and would often go to games with Paul to show her support and cheer on her favorite team. When she wasn’t at a Reds game she was adding to her ever growing collection of snowmen. She loved her family and was always the first person to reach out and help others. She was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all of those who got a chance to meet her. Gretchen is survived by her husband, Robert Paul Stiers; her sister, Susan (Metzger) Miles and brother-in-law, Scott Miles (of Johnstown, Pennsylvania); four very special nieces, Kristen, Evelyn, and Ashlyn Selby and Karen Tavis (Of Ventura, California). She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine; her sister, Cathy (Metzger) Fry and brother-in-law, Wayne Fry.

A funeral service will be held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Garden's Chapel, 5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213, on Monday, October 14th at 11:00 AM.
