Gordon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Gordon proudly worked for the Federal Government and retired from DSCC after 22 years. He was affectionately known as “Grandpa Gordon” to many and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Richards. Gordon will be missed by his step-children, Debora (James) Scott, Steven (Edna) Berry, and Richard (Lindy) Berry; granddaughter, Melody (Anthony) Berry-Johnson; great-granddaughters, Keyonna and Whitney Turner and Makayla Berry; sisters, Mary Mayfield and Margaret Williams; brother, John Ballard; cousins, Lamar (Dorothy) Craft, Kelvin, Rock (Tina), Curtis, and Edward Lee Craft; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
Family will receive friends Friday, June 3, 2011 from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Elder Lois Ross, officiating.
