Gladys Kathleen Ison

Gladys Kathleen Ison, 87, of Circleville, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 24, 2017 at Pickaway Manor. She was born March 2, 1930 in Circleville, the daughter of Lyell O’Dell and Mary Kathleen (Thomas) Greiner. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walthan W. Ison; her son, Ronald; and sister, Virginia Davis.

Gladys attended Pontius United Methodist Church for many years. She loved her family and friends and was known to be a wonderful cook. Among her family’s favorite dishes were her chicken noodles and apple dumplings. A hard worker, Gladys enjoyed canning the vegetables her husband grew in the garden and hanging clothes out even in the winter snow. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

Gladys is survived by her children, Beverly A. (David) Martin, Barbara D. (Jerry) Smallwood and Larry W. (Rona) Ison; grandchildren, Stacy (Nathan) Smith, Erin (Jared) Wickham, Kylene Ison, Barrett Ison and Jeffrey Ison; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Jerra & JJ Wickham, Christopher Campbell and Skylar Taylor; step-grandchildren, Reigyn Joseph and Kaidance Myers; daughter-in-law, Lillian Ison; sisters, Margery Evans, Teresa (Loring) Allen and Myra (Thomas) Shisler; brothers, Robert Greiner, Gerald (Sharon) Greiner and James (Clara) Greiner; and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 28, 2017 at Pontius United Methodist Church, 7218 Stoutsville Pike, Circleville, with Pastor John Ash officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home in Circleville.
