George was born March 14, 1938 and raised in Dublin, Ohio to the late Harold L. and Francis (Capell) Plummer. He graduated from Dublin High School where he played on the football team. George was a proud veteran and served in the Army where he was stationed at the Panama Canal. He would then continue his act of service serving with the Dublin Fire Department. He retired from Otterbein University where he worked in the Heating and Cooling Department after 27 years.
One of his favorite pastimes was his love of fishing, especially at Lake of the Woods in Ontario, Canada. Along with fishing, George loved being outdoors. Annually, Barbara and George would go to Sugar Camp and they would make maple syrup together. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Plummer; his step-daughter, Allyson McDaniel; and his brother-in-law, Ken Seifert.
George is survived by his loving wife, Barbara L. Plummer; children, George Kenneth Plummer and Lori West; step-children, James (Alicia) McDaniel, Brandon (Stephanie) McDaniel; grandchildren, Matthew, Katie and Cameron West; step-grandchildren, Jamie, Truman and Madeleine McDaniel; sister-in-laws, Nancy (Greg) Thatcher, Patty (Jim) Martz, Mary Seifert; and numerous relatives and friends.
A visitation for George will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Schoedinger North, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229, followed by a memorial service with military honors at 3:00 PM.
