Gene R. Davis

Gene R. Davis, age 80, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 in Newark, Ohio. Gene was born May 27, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Clarence C. and Florence S. (Stouffer) Davis, Sr.; also preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Davis, Jr. Gene was a U.S. Marine Veteran and had retired from Shoemaker Sales and Service where he worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and music, whether it was playing his guitar and tambourine, writing songs or listening to country and Gospel music. He loved his family and is survived by four children, Tamara McNeely, Michael Davis (Gail Tart), Daphne (Larry) Sowers and Stephanie Cole; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and his beloved dove “Pretty Boy”. Family will receive friends 5-8pm Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232 where services will be held at 11am Thursday; Pastor Richard Burgie, officiating; interment with military honors to follow in Glen Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, OH 43055 in his memory.
