Frances V. (Moler) Lakin, age 94, a longtime resident of Upper Arlington, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at her daughter’s residence in Vermontville, Michigan. She was born September 28, 1918 in Gallipolis, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank A. and Sylvia (Harrison) Moler. Frances retired as a Head Start teacher from Livingston Avenue Elementary School following ten years. She is survived by her daughter, Diane F. Voelker (Roger), of Vermontville, MI; son, James Daniel Lakin (Madeline), of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Scott Casteele, James P. (Amber) Voelker, Krista Voelker and Jamie Voelker; great grandchildren, Leilani Casteele, James W., Haley, Karsten, Hollie and Alex Voelker. Also survived by special nephew and niece, Dan Saver (Sarah) and Christine Saver ; sister-in-law, Pat (Herb) Engle; nieces and nephews, Nancy Bennett, Susie, Mary Kay and Bill Moler; other relatives and many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, H. Daniel Lakin in 2005; sister, Marjorie Saver and brother, Frank Moler Jr. Frances received her Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Ohio University and her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Capital University. She was a longtime member of First Community Church, where she enjoyed the Book Club and volunteered at the Trading Post. Frances invested her time in her family, getting her second degree after raising her children. She lived life to the fullest, putting her family first always with a smile on her face.
