Eric passed away at his residence on Tuesday, April 7, 2010. Eric was born in Butler, PA on May 16, 1972 to John W. Gerstner and Ellen J. (Murdick) Blair. At age 11 Eric and his mother Ellen moved t o Myrtle Beach, were he grew up and graduated from Socastee High School, in Surfside Beach, SC in 1990. He then attended Horry Georgetown Tech. College, Culinary Arts Programs, in Conway SC where he graduated in 1992. From 1992 to 2003 he worked as a chef in Myrtles Beach in a number of Restaurants including The Sea Captains House Restaurant. In 2003 he moved to Ohio to be closer to family and became employed at the Cherry Valley Lodge Restaurant where he became their night manager and Sous Chef. According to his family he was passionate about his work and quite the artist. Eric, a gentle and loving person could be found either on his computer or in the kitchen at any time. Those who have had the privilege of tasting his fair will deeply miss him and his talents.
Eric survivors include his mother, Ellen (Tim) Blair of West Lafayette; father, John W. (Linda) Gerstner of Pennsylvania; step brothers John and Matthew; grandmother, Leah Murdick of Florida, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
