Pastor Emmanuel Bakong, age 61, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Pastor Emmanuel Bakong was born on December 31st, 1962 in Cameroon, the beloved son of Zachee Elong and Naemi Kuigonda. He was a devoted husband and friend to Veronica Asong for a number of years, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and deep commitment. Together, they raised two wonderful children: Elisabeth and Donald. Upon his sister Emilienne's passing, he adopted her children, Naomie, Emmanuel, and Freddy. Emmanuel was also a cherished grandfather to lmany. His family was his pride and joy and a blessing from God. He will be remembered as a loving and protective family man, whose legacy will live on through his descendants.
From a young age, Emmanuel showed a keen interest in learning. He attended Bonepoupa primary school before moving on to King Akwa High School. He furthered his education at Michigan State University, earning a degree in Business Administration. Emmanuel was a lifelong learner, continually seeking knowledge and self-improvement, which he also encouraged in his children and grandchildren.
As a faithful servant of God, Pastor Emmanuel Bakong shepherded the congregation at Trumpet Ministries International 365 for over several years. His spiritual guidance was a beacon of hope and strength for many, and his deep faith was evident in his every action and word. Pastor Bakong's leadership extended beyond the pulpit; he was actively involved in mentorship programs for young immigrants, bringing people together and fostering a community of faith and love. His legacy as a pastor is marked by his unwavering devotion to God and his congregation.
Emmanuel dedicated over 20 years to accounting and human resources, where he was known for his honesty, devotion, and leadership. His commitment to serving others was evident in his role as chief of staff and later, HR director. Among his many accomplishments, he was particularly proud of being a father figure to his community and being a supporter for several charitable causes, including breast cancer awareness and Special Olympics associations. Emmanuel's work not only improved the lives of those in his community but also set a standard for excellence and compassion in his field.
A funeral service for Emmanuel will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Schoedinger East, 5360 E Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232. A visitation will occur Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 5360 E Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232. A graveside service will occur Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213.
