Emily Beatrice (Heim) Schmidt, age 91 of Columbus, OH, and formerly of St. Petersburg, died Sunday, April 25, 2010. She was born December 13, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA. Emily grew up in St. Petersburg, where she worked at the family bakery (Heim’s Bakery) until it closed and then Publix Bakery until her retirement. Emily married Ludwig Schmidt on June 30, 1940 and was married 48 years when he passed away in 1989. Emily and Ludwig were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg. Following Ludwig’s death, Emily moved to Columbus, OH to live with her son Ludwig, Jr. During the last decade, she has remained a happy, pleasant and friendly person. Emily deeply loved her family and friends and they in turn deeply loved her. She will be remembered for her stern discipline, constant encouragement and unending love. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pauline Heim and step-mother, Christine; grandson, John; and siblings, Charles, Frank, Richard, and Ruth. Emily will be missed by her loving sons, Ludwig (Susan) Schmidt, Jr. and Charles (Judy) Schmidt; grandsons, Aaron, Michael, Brian, and John; and great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11am Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Woodlawn Memory Gardens, 101 58th St. South, St. Petersburg, FL.
