Elizabeth Ann Barthelmas (Holland), known affectionately as Beth, was born on March 3, 1958, in Upper Arlington, Ohio, and passed away on October 7, 2024, in the same community where she spent most of her life. A proud graduate of Upper Arlington High School Class of 1976, Beth continued her education at The Ohio State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. On September 17th, 1988, Beth married the love of her life, Richard Barthelmas, with whom she shared 34 cherished years of marriage. After nearly a decade in the accounting field, she chose to dedicate her life to being a homemaker, a role in which she found her greatest fulfillment.
Beth was a devoted mother to her three children, Stephen, David (Jessica), and Michelle, and grandson Mason who were all the light in her life. She cherished every moment she spent with them. Beth loved spending time watching Ohio State Football games surrounded by friends and family, a testament to her love for the sport. Additionally, Beth was deeply involved in her community, serving multiple charities and contributing to various social causes. Throughout her life, she traveled extensively, embracing the experiences the world had to offer.
She leaves behind her three children: Stephen Barthelmas, David (Jessica) Barthelmas, and Michelle Barthelmas, as well as her cherished grandson, Mason Barthelmas. Beth is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Holland, and her siblings: Joanne Holland, Kathryn (Jim) Sterner, James (Diane) Holland II, Patricia (Christopher) Holzaepfel, sister-in-law Ellen Holland, and former husband Richard Barthelmas, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Beth is preceded in death by her father, James Holland, her brother, Michael "Mike" Holland, and her nephew, James "Jimmy" Holland III. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221.
A mass of Christian burial will occur Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Rd, Columbus, OH 43220.
Grave site service will be held directly after the funeral at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High Street, Lewis Center, OH 43035.
Celebration of life lunch will be hosted by the Barthelmas family following the Grave site service at 4872 Stonehaven Drive, Columbus, OH 43220.
