Edward “Ed” Findley, age 90 of Columbus, passed away April 8, 2011. Ed was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late Edward Findley and Hilda (Trautman) Bettker. Also preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Walz, and twin brother, Bill Findley. Ed graduated from South High School, Class of 1939, attended Capital University, and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was the co-owner of the former Foreign Grocery in Columbus and was also a retired supervisor for the Franklin County Clerk of Courts. Ed was a member of Gahanna Mifflin Presbyterian Church, Southside YMCA Right Angle Club, Southeast Shrine Club, Aladdin Shrine Temple Hospitality Unit, 32nd degree Mason of York Lodge, Scottish Rite. He was also a member and past president of the Southeast Lions Club, member of Buckeye and Franklin County Republican Club, York Golf Country Club and DCSC Golf Club. Ed and his twin brother were accomplished tap dancers that performed throughout the years. In addition, he enjoyed golfing and had been a long time volunteer for many civic and community groups. He will be missed by his wife of 67 years, Ginnie (Shoaf) Findley; children, Tom Findley, Pati (Eric) Walz, Rob (Dottie) Findley, and Nanci (Max) Larsen; grandchildren, Kyle (Megan) Findley, Amanda Walz, and Trent Findley; great granddaughter, Avery Findley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and JoAnn Shoaf; sister-in-law, Rosemary Findley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, April 11, 2011 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 2-4:30 P.M. Sunday and a Lions Club service will begin at 4 P.M. Pastor Stephanie Boaz and Rev. Dennis Barnhart officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate. The family appreciates the special attention and care received from Emeritus at Chestnut Hill and Acclaim Hospice.
