Edmund Thomas "Tom" Einboden, 92, of Columbus, died August 26, 2014. He was born January 30, 1922 in Detroit, MI to the late Herbert and Marguerite (Perry) Einboden. He was a WWII Army veteran Staff Sergeant serving in the Pacific Theater, Solomon Islands and Guadalcanal. He was a radio operator in combat and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service. He was a salesman for Buhl and Sons, Detroit, MI where he sold toys and sporting goods. He moved to Columbus, OH in 1961 where he became a buyer for Smith Brothers Hardware Company. He later worked for Hechingers in Columbus, where he designed kitchen cabinets. He enjoyed all sports and graduated from St. Theresa High School in Detroit where he played baseball as a pitcher. He was an accomplished speed ice skater, participating in speed skating events at Belle Isle in Detroit and he played fast pitch softball in Columbus for many years. He coached Little League and Pony League baseball and youth basketball. An avid sports fan, he closely followed the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings, Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame. He enjoyed watching Cleveland Indians baseball with his wife Mary. His biggest enjoyment was being with his family. Tom was a member of St. Anthony's Parish. Since 1963 Tom and Mary were residents of Forest Park West in Columbus. He is preceded in death by brother Herbert "Bud" Einboden. He is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 67 years whom he married September 13, 1947 in Detroit, MI, 2 children, Sheila McKillip of Rockbridge, OH and Greg Einboden of King George, VA, daughter-in-law Suzanne Dorn Einboden; 3 grandchildren, Ryan Einboden, Bradley Einboden and Tracy Green; great grandson Tristan Cuda; sister-in-law June Einboden of St. Petersburg, FL; nephews William McNellie and Paul Einboden; nieces Janet Conrad and Jill Harper. His family would like to convey a special heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff at the St. Ann's Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Family will observe private services.
