Duwana was a constant force in my work life and had a great attitude.  We loved to chat about our babies.  She had an amazing attitude, particularly in the face of her personal adversities and she will be greatly missed.

Duwana's smiling face and cheery "Good Morning" greeted me in the morning when I arrived at work in Denney Hall. She was an amazing person being able to keep that smile and sunny disposition despite her numerous health problems. She never complained or whined. She was and will continue to be an inspiration to me.

Sorry to hear this news. Duwana was a special individual. Didn't matter how bad the day was, Duwana was right there with a smile and a "How's your day, hon?" to brighten it. I remember how excited Duwana was learning sign language. I would always see her at the front desk practicing...such great memories. We were all better for knowing Duwana and though I hadn't seen her in a few years, I remember her fondly. I wish all of the family and friends of this fine lady peace and comfort at this saddest of times.

Duwana was extremely kind and caring.  I also remember her greeting all the students as "hon".  That was just her way--everyone was "hon" to Duwana.  I'm glad I had the chance to work with her and get to know her. The world was a better place with her in it, so it's very sad that we've all lost such a sweet and gentle soul.

That was Duwana's classic greeting to all-staff and student alike- "How can I help you, hon?" and it was these words that made me nominate her for an outstanding staff award. She was so pleasant and positive, regardless of what was going on around her. I am sure the students will miss her as much as we do. There are not many people who can maintain such an upbeat attitude when they are faced with the demands of customer satiisfaction. Adieu, Duwana!

I worked with Duwana in the College of Arts and Sciences for a very long time and she was such a wonderful person. She would always say "how can I help you hon" when students came to the front desk - always had a smile on her face and had such a great attitude. At one point I was a wellness liaison and ran a group within the office, called the "Fit Buddies." Duwana joined the group and came to every meeting because she was committed to maintaining good health and learning about "health-related" topics. One year Duwana won an Outstanding Staff Award in our office and it was well-deserved. She was such a sweet, kind woman and she will be greatly missed.
