Dorothy Irene Gilmore

Dorothy I. Gilmore, 89, of Circleville, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Pickaway Manor. She was born January 18, 1922 in Pickaway County, the daughter of Homer R. and Florence (May) Spangler. Dorothy owned and operated Gilmore’s Daycare and Preschool on South Court Street for 33 years, from 1955 until 1988. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the church’s preschool board for 10 years. Dorothy also had volunteered at the Berger Hospital Gift Shop and served on the gift shop board. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter D. Gilmore in 1988; her son, Randy Gilmore in 2003; daughter-in-law, Carol (Anderson) Gilmore in 2001; sister, Esther Haynes; and brothers Jerry and Milton Spangler. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Mike Gilmore (Trenny Wharton) of Circleville; and Steve (Diana) Gilmore of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Heather (Tony) Nicol of Sunbury, Michelle (Brian) Thompson of Frederickstown, Amber (Tim) Mogan of Circleville, Casey Gilmore of Cincinnati, Matthew Gilmore of Chillicothe and Andrew and Alexandra Gilmore of Cincinnati; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Ott of Circleville; special friends, Wanita Marshall, Norma Brackett and Frank Seimer; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St., Circleville, with Pastor Gerhard Kraus officiating. Burial will be in Reber Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday, January 31st at Trinity Lutheran Church Noecker Hall.
