A funeral service, to celebrate the life of Dorothy Mae Dunlap, 96, of Newark, will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Welsh Hills Cemetery.
Dorothy was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 12, 1916 to the late Clarence and Sarah Mae (Howell) Bowman. She passed away at her residence on February 19, 2013 while surrounded by her loving family.
Prior to retirement, she was a bus driver for Newark City Schools for many years. She was a member of the Rocky Fork Church of God. She enjoyed listening to country music, cooking and was especially known for her fried chicken, chicken and noodles, apple and lemon pie. She loved entertaining and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Barbara (Phil) Gregg of Newark, Howard (Kaye) Dunlap of Heath, Mick (Deb) Dunlap of Newark, Sarah Dornon of Millersport, Chet (Reba) Dunlap of Newark and Jan (Dan) Wilson of Heath; son-in-law, Roland Reid of Zanesville; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Dunlap in 2006; daughter, Diana Reid; son, Charles Dunlap; and sister, Grace Lindeman.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dorothy to Rocky Fork Church of God or Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
