Donald Cord Scriven, age 71 of Upper Arlington, passed away July 22, 2019. Don was born in Grants Pass, Oregon and grew up in Spokane, Washington, son of the late Wayne and Isabelle Scriven. He completed his undergraduate studies at Andrew's University in Michigan and went on to graduate from Tulane Law School. Following retirement, Don moved to Olympia, Washington, where he met and married his wife of 29 years, Nelda. Don quickly realized that with a family, he may have to return to practicing law and decided to settle in Columbus at Squire, Sanders, and Dempsey. In 1995, Don moved on with three partners and founded Scott Scriven, LLP, where he remained practicing law part time until the time of his passing. Don was a 29 year active member of the Worthington Seventh-day Adventist Church, and also a board member at the Ohio State Harding Foundation. He was a man of integrity who was witty, had an amazing intellect, and people could sense his authenticity. He enjoyed classical music, studying the oboe, and was an avid reader who had one of the largest collections of first edition fictional books. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Nelda Scriven; children, Peter and Emily Scriven; brothers, Charles (Rebekah Chang) and Richard (Suzanne) Scriven; and may other extended family members and dear friends.
