He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Daniel Lathem and father-in-law, Wayne “WT” Simkins; Gizzy and Gidget.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie B. Lathem; children, Ronald (Vicky) Lathem, Craig (Yvette) Lathem, Donnie (Jaime) Lathem, Christl Combs, Jason (Kimberly) Lathem, Amy (Tony) Klein and Cecil (Maria) Schinke; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Janet (Eldon) Malone, David (Betty) Lathem, Mary Lou (Jim) Siders, Judy Timmons; sister-in-law, Judy Lathem; mothers-in-law, Louise (Jim) Rader and Juanita Simkins; brother-in-law, Larry (Sue) Simkins; his special guardian angel, Candice; 3 four-legged babies; many loving nieces, nephews other relatives and many, many dearly loved friends.
Don was and always will be a United States Marine. He drove for Duff Truckline for many years and retired from USF Holland and Teamsters Local #413. He was many things to many people… a jack of all trades! Don will be remembered for his love of NASCAR, travelling, bluegrass music, and above all, for his family and friends.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 where services with military honors will be held at 1pm Thursday; Pastor Roscoe Swain, officiating.
