Donald Stewart Howland Jr.

Donald Stewart Howland, Jr., age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Don was born on March 31, 1930, in Madison, Wisconsin, to the late Donald and Emily (Vollmer) Howland. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Martha (Hickman) Howland. A Columbus North High and Denison University graduate, Don completed Navy OCS and served as navigator on the U.S. Leyte Gulf carrier before embarking on a long career with Ohio National Bank/BancOhio. He volunteered long hours for the United Way, COSI and Opera Columbus. He and Martha were longtime season ticket holders for Ohio State Basketball and the Columbus Jazz Arts Group. He loved reading, attending his sons' sporting events, listening to Stan Kenton and sipping single malt Scotch. He and Martha traveled all over the world in their golden years. He will be deeply missed by his two sons Donald III and Peter; grandchildren Chet, Rosalyn, Helena and Evie; and great-grandson Shepherd.
