Donald R. Coe

Donald R. Coe of Columbus, Ohio died January 30, 2024, at the age of 81 at Wesley Glen Retirement Home. Don was born in New Rochelle, NY. Preceded in death by father, Donald R. Coe and mother, Nancy H. Coe Hill, Frederick B. Hill III, Vivian J. Hill and James L. Hill. Survived by wife of 30 years, Susan, step-son David C. Hershhorn (Miriam Waddell) and grandchildren, brother J. Laurence (Doris) Coe of Watertown, MA: children Julie (Ben), Margaret (Eckehard), Peter (Caitlan) and grandchildren, brothers-in-law Edward A. Schirmer (Marisa) and Sandford B. Schirmer and niece and nephews, Hill family brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Sonnia) Hill, Mary Hill, nieces and nephews: Pamela Hill (Michael Lorr), Steven (Crystal) Hill, Joe (Joi) Hill, Ann (Thomas) Williams, Blythe (Carl) Turner, Brenda (Terry) McMullen, Peter (Susan Pappas) Hill, Craig (Tamra) Hill, Jason (Jessica) Hill. He is also survived by many grand and great nieces. Don attended Bexley High School and graduated from Ohio University. Pursuing an abiding love of music, Don played piano for many central Ohio retirement homes. Don, a train buff, was a substitute pianist in the 90’s on the AEE (a luxury train that ran Chicago to New York). A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 5099 Postlewaite Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Foundation or charity of your choice.
