Dennis J. Drummond. Born July 1, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey and passed away October 29, 2011 in Edgewater, Florida. After graduating high school in New Jersey, Dennis served in the United States Air Force. While serving our country, he spent time stationed in Central Ohio where he would meet his late beloved wife of 57 years. After receiving an Honorable Dishcharge from the service, he worked for Battelle and then the Columbus police department while earning a Bachelors Degree from Ohio State University. He then worked and eventually retired from R.G. Barry Corporation. Dennis had a passion for the outdoors and loved camping and fishing in his canoe and bass boat. He was an avid reader and held a particular interest is war history and crime novels. It wasn’t unusual for him to read more than one book a week. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who always had time and energy for his family. Preceded in death by wife Joan Drummond, parents Harry and Annie Drummond and sister Jeanette (Buddy) Eltringham. He is survived by sons Mark, Matthew and Patrick Drummond, daughters-in-law, Donna Drummond and Kathy Milburn: grandchildren Kyle, Sam, Shelby, Zane and Ethan Drummond; sister-in-law Christine Hartung and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association. A memorial and prayer service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, November 12, 2011 where friends and family may gather from 1:00 pm until 2:30 p.m. at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 West Broad Street Columbus, Ohio 43204.
