Deloris Shipley, 73, a former resident of Grove City for 42 years, passed away at Crestwood Care Center In Shelby, Ohio on April 13. Deloris is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Doris Robinson. Survivors include husband Frank of 53 years, children Tammy Kemerling (Paul), and Douglas (Joanie); grandchildren Riley and Alexia Kemerling and Chelsea Shipley, Sister Janice Liebenderfer, Sister-in-law Linda Franklin, Brothers-in-law Bob Shipley (Remonia) and David Shipley (Stephanie), many nieces, nephews and friends. Deloris graduated from Linden McKinley High School in Columbus and after working for an insurance company for several years dedicated the rest of her life to be a loving mother and grandmother. Deloris was also a servant of God and people. She sang in church choirs for over 30 years, delivered meals on wheels in Grove City for several years, worked at the election polls for 15 years, volunteered at Highland Park School and worked at the Grove City Cancer Thrift Shop for many years. She was also the caregiver for her Sunday school class for many years and sent out countless cards of encouragement. Her beautiful smile often invited total strangers to interact and tell her their problems. She was never too busy to listen. Deloris enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states plus Canada and Mexico with Frank. In recent years she became a fan of Southern Gospel music and loved to go to concerts. Eventually the scourge of Alzheimer's disease robbed her of all of life's pleasures. Deloris was a member of First Baptist Church of Grove City. Friends may call at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, in Grove City from 4-6pm Wednesday, April 16, 2014 where a funeral service will follow at 6pm. Burial will be later in Kingwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Alzheimer's Research Department at OSU.
