David Bruce Thompson, age 80, of Columbus, OH, passed away peacefully on January 31, surrounded by his seven children. He was born on February 4th, 1940 in Detroit, MI, to the late David W. and Marion Gilling Thompson. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Thompson.
Proud member of St Mary of Redford HS Class of 1958. Following High School, David received his Bachelor degree from University of Detroit. After receiving his CPA he moved his family to Ohio and started a new position as Comptroller for Scott Krauss News. He worked diligently for the Scherer family businesses, to expand and diversify the company for over 47 years. He was an active director and officer on numerous accounting, civic and educational boards.
This included St Andrew's Parish and School, Upper Arlington Civic Association, The Country Club at Muirfield, the Muirfield Association, as well as the Conservation Club at Lost Lake Woods Club.
An early member for over 60 years at Lost Lake Woods Club, he loved spending time "Up North" with family and friends. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching his children and grandkids play soccer. He loved working on his farms, trying to provide the best possible opportunity for his children, grandchildren and extended family to harvest a buck of their dreams. David is so loved, and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
David will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Zagata); daughter's, Debra (Jim Masdea) and Jenni (Brett Battin) and sons Steve (Karen), David (Jackie), Michael, Jeff, Jamie (Jami); sibling's. Robert Thompson, Sylvia Martin, and Dory Lamont; grandchildren, Andy (Maggie), Nick (Megan), Leah, James, Gina, Anna, Michael, DJ, Alex, Jessica, Jordan, Alyssa, Daria, Preston, Aubrey, and Brooklyn as well as great grandchildren Luna and Ruby.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Ohio Health Hospice for making the last two weeks of his life comfortable.
