David Patterson was born April 2, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio and died on August 3, 2020 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, David (Tina) Patterson; daughter, Jenny (Steve) Houseman; son, Jamie (Dana) Patterson; daughter, Penny Patterson (David Hammerle); grandchildren, Caleb Patterson, Micah Patterson, Jacob Houseman, Brady Patterson, Logan Patterson, Landon Patterson, Reece Patterson, Isabelle Hammerle and Katie Hammerle.
David served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1969. Honorably discharged from the U.S. military holding the rank of Sergeant. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran having served two tours during the Vietnam War. He received his GED while in the service. Along with his military career, he had several careers in the private sector throughout his lifetime as well. He always worked very hard to provide for his family.
David enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was blessed with seven grandsons and two granddaughters. He would spend as much time as he could with them. He was very proud of each and everyone of them.
David was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He would never miss an opportunity to watch a game. Most often, he would watch the games with family.
David had a major sweet tooth. He loved Reese's Cups, Red Vines, Saltwater Taffy and Dots. He would keep a supply of candy hidden in the house to share with the grandchildren when they came over. During Halloween, he would always pick through the candy to find his favorites.
David was a very charitable person. He made several donations to veteran's charities, police organizations and the Madison County Humane Society. He was an avid animal lover.
David loved all things classic car. He would tell many stories about his 1964 Pontiac GTO, including one about the teaching Mary to drive it for the first time. He loved going to classic car shows wherever he could find them. He would make a new friend at every show he attended.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of David E Patterson to Honor Flight or Heartland of Dublin Hospice program.
