Charles Edward Porter, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Doctors Hospital West. Charles was born on November 15, 1948 in Sharp County, Arkansas to Edward W. and Effie (Boehl) Porter. Charles was a kind man that everyone loved. His friends would say that he could make a bad day good and would put a smile on everyone’s faces when they were with him. Charles was a hard worker and had many different jobs over his lifetime. He was a talented artist and attended the Open Door Art Studio for many years. He was a member of the Hilltop Kiwanis Aktion Club for 10 years and served multiple roles over that time which included President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Charles loved to bowl and was a member of the Special Olympics team for 20 plus years. He enjoyed traveling and went on yearly vacations. A few of his favorite places were Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Effie Porter. Charles was one of five children. His siblings are Anna Murphy, Katherine VanTuyl, Helen Porter and Edward Porter.
Survived by his friends from Parkwest, Open Door Columbus and caregivers from his group home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10-11:00 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Interment Alton Cemetery.
