A funeral service for Charles E. Jeffers of Newark will be held Sunday July 29, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Wes Ellis officiating. Military honours will be provided by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance.
Charles was born on July 18, 1930 in St. Mary’s, West Virginia to the late Harve and Virgie (Hamilton) Jeffers. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was 82.
Charles proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Marine Corps, an achievement that he carried with him the rest of his life. He worked as a carpenter in the building industry and at Kaiser Aluminum.
Charles is preceded in death by his brothers Roger and Steve Jeffers, his sister Evelyn Lamp, and his son-in-law Chuck Hutchinson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bobbie Lucille (Bennett), whom he married Sept 22, 1951, daughter Joyce Hughes, grandchildren Heather, Donny, Ricky, Heath, Josh, and Jeremy; great grandchildren Tyler, Bailey, Tanesha, Alexis, Maci, Taylor, Skylar, Jessie, Ryan, Morgan, Tia, Jason, Ashley, Maceson, Madisen, Briana, Anika and Corday; great-great-grandchildren Tasha and Keshon
sisters Peggy Coffman, Lola Bowen, and Wanda Meade; brothers Harold, Jim, David, Randy, and Donnie Jeffers. Also numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Charles loved to hunt, fish, and golf; he was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Eagles.
