Carter lived a fun, happy, and family-filled life until his unexpected and sudden passing. He loved cars and trucks (and could name every kind of construction vehicle he saw), balls, sports, music, books, blackberries and bananas, applesauce, the outdoors, and his bubble lawnmower and fire truck that he pushed down the sidewalk. He brought immense joy to all who met him, proudly stating, “I’m two!” and never shying away from a high-five. He adored his grandparents—Nana, Papou, Mimi, and Poppy—and all of the affection they showed to their only grandson. And he was every parent’s dream, with the sweetest disposition and most kissable cheeks that received thousands of kisses daily. Carter never went a day without knowing how much his parents loved him—and his parents felt the same way in return (it was routine to exchange “I love you!” for several minutes as part of the bedtime ritual, even after his bedroom door was closed).
He enjoyed a life-long companion and best friend in his older sister, Nora (age 4). Carter emulated her in every way, right down to their big, beautiful brown eyes. Together, they ran through the hallways, danced to classical music, put on performances, built tall towers, climbed on swing sets, sneaked snacks from the pantry, played hide-and-go-seek, and laughed—no one made Carter laugh more than Nora.
Carter recently assumed the role of big brother to his younger sister, Lucy (age 3 months), and did so in the most gentle and kind way. He loved to hold her, and began showing her the world by introducing her to his collection of toys.
Despite his young age, he was drawn to the holy cross, fastening forks or sticks into its shape; pointed to all of the church bells around town; and grabbed large leaves to hold above his head while singing “Alleluia” around the yard. We know that God has a special purpose for Carter and called him into His Kingdom to fulfill that purpose.
In addition to his parents, Carter is survived and will be forever missed by his sisters, Nora and Lucy; his grandparents, Jim and Jody Katerakis and Pete and Mary Ann Jack; his uncles and aunts, Stephen and Kelly Katerakis Faber, Andrew and Lisa Katerakis, Kevin and Kendra Jack, and Alex and Stephanie Hallenbeck; and his cousins, Lynnea and Maryn Faber and Gemma and Lily Jack.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:30pm followed by a prayer vigil from 6:30-7:00pm on Friday, October 6, 2023, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
