Carolyn Jeanne Stevenson (Needler), age 79, of Upper Arlington, lost her battle with lung cancer on Friday, November 21, 2014, and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was born March 12, 1935 in Hartford City, IN to the late Raymond and Cora Needler. Carolyn graduated from Capital University with a Master’s of Education. While there, she met Donald Stevenson and they were married Thanksgiving Day in 1957. Carolyn worked through the Columbus Public Schools as a remarkable teacher at Children’s Hospital where she taught K-6 in the burn and terminally ill units for 35 years. She was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church for over 40 years and took pride in attending their Bible Study Group for “Experienced Troopers!” Carolyn enjoyed shopping, playing Bridge and was an avid sports fan. Known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Carolyn was an inspirational wife, mother and grandmother and we will continue to try and live up to her expectations while honoring her memory. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marilyn Santilli. Carolyn will be missed by her loving husband of almost 57 years, Don Stevenson; son, Scott (Susan) Stevenson and their two children; daughters, Sheryl Callaghan and her two children; and Stacey (Mark) Moor; and sisters, Relda Pearson and Bonnie (Wade) Stath. A memorial service, celebrating her life, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church at Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run Dr., Hilliard, OH; with a reception to follow.
