I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy.  May you find comfort from your memories, as well as the comfort found in God’s word the bible. Romans 5:12 says, 
"That is why, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned."  How loving of God to promise what is found at Revelation 21:4 which says, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Carolyn was the featured speaker at the August 2012 monthly meeting of our writers group (the Central Ohio chapter of the national Sisters In Crime organization).  In addition to showing us how to develop psychologically complex characters, she also allowed us to take her out to lunch afterwards and it was one of the more memorable events of the year.  Although our speakers always bring something to the table, Carolyn was the whole package; intelligent, intriguing, personable, and radiating a vibe that surreptitiously drew you into her orbit.  The experience was such that we were hoping to have her as a return speaker; this news now comes as a tragic shock.  I can only imagine how this must be for her friends and family, and our organization wishes them all the condolences possible.  Carolyn may have left too early, but she’ll always be with those who knew her.

Carolyn was not just an amazing professor but an amazing person as well.  She was by far the best instructor I have ever had.  She made sure that each student was understanding the material and not just memorizing it for a test.  Carolyn would do her best to put real world situations into her teaching as to ensure that her students were imprinting the material as real and useful in their own lives.  She would take as much time as necessary to explain any topic or make sure she had available office hours for any students who needed extra help.  I was actually referred to Carolyn by Dr. David Tom after letting him know that I had an interest in Abnormal Psychology.  He told me she would be the best, he was right.  I do not believe I will ever have another instructor as intuitive, charming, charismatic, intelligent, and an all around incredible person as Dr. Carolyn Kaufman.  She will be immensely missed by all who have been fortunate to meet her.  My deepest condolences go out to Carolyn's' nearest and dearest friends and family.   You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Carolyn was a beautiful, accomplished woman with many creative endeavors, and a supportive influence in many lives. I know how close she was to her mother, Sue, and my heart is breaking for the loss to this family. I will say a special prayer for the heartache they are having to endure.

I met Carolyn 8 years ago when I became a psychology faculty member at CSCC. We became close friends when we started working together. How wonderful to find her, an amazing colleague and friend. My family loved her dearly and my house is filled with pictures that she took. I planned on spending my career down the hall from her. Carolyn was creative, motivated, considerate, humble, kind, encouraging, and beautiful. She created an assignment that she called the Kindness Experiment. She asked students to spend one day being extraordinarily kind to every person they encountered and then to write about their day, how people reacted, and how they felt. Over the years, hundreds of CSCC students completed this assignment with many instructors assigning it in their classes. So many students reported improving family relationships, resolving work conflicts, making more money, and simply feeling better about themselves and their lives. I like to think that this is a perfect example of the lasting impression she has made on her students, friends, and colleagues. I will miss working with Carolyn, calling her to talk about our lives, seeing her love my children, and eating spaghetti dinners at her house.

My heart and prayers are with your family.  I am so sorry for your loss and pray that the God of all comfort will hold you tightly through this time.

Carolyn was one of the most dedicated and passionate psychology colleagues I have had the privilege to know. The world has lost an amazing person, and I will miss her very much. She always had time for me, and was such a kind soul. My thoughts are with her family and close friends in this difficult time.

Carolyn was the type of person that once you knew her, you would frequently find yourself thinking - "What would Carolyn do in this situation?" Carolyn had a wonderful intellect, a great sense of humor, always had the right words to say, and genuinely gave her all to her friends, students and work.  I was lucky to have her in my life as a colleague, but much luckier to have called her my friend. There are no words to express the loss I feel.  My greatest sympathies to her family.

A teacher affects eternity; one can never tell where their influence stops.

I worked with Carolyn on the 50th Anniversary Committee and will miss her passion and zest for her fmilies and home and CSCC. Carolyn is a great loss to writers everywhere. She was one of the most professional, diligent, and intelligent writers I ever had the pleasure to represent. I will miss her and I know her second book--for which the contract just arrived--would have been wonderful.

I had the great pleasure of working with Carolyn for a very short time on Columbus State's 50th Anniversary. She was a fine colleague because she possessed all the attributes one could hope for in a co-worker. She was fun and funny, hard working, highly competent; detail-oriented, dedicated, and possessed high standards for her self and others. She was quick to appreciate the work of others.
