Carolyn C. Crawford, 78, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 24, with her daughter Wendy by her side. She was born in Anna, Ohio on June 7, 1943 to the late Harold and Ruth (nee Finkenbine) Cooper.
Carolyn graduated from Anna High School and then moved to the big city to attend The Ohio State University. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology degree at The Ohio State University in 1966. She continued her education there and received her Master of Science degree from the College of Medicine in Pathology in 1969. Carolyn became part of the faculty at The Ohio State University teaching Medical Technology for many years. She was a Buckeye through and through.
Carolyn and her second husband Bill Hart moved to Mt Vernon, Ohio, where they enjoyed the community and the people, as well as a good glass of wine at the Alcove. They both loved gardening and were able to plan and work on their gardens and home there. They traveled together and enjoyed life.
After Bill's death, Carolyn met and married Bill Crawford and moved to Danville, Ohio. She had always wanted to be a cowboy and was able to be a horsewoman on Crawford Acres farm. Together Bill and Carolyn bred and raised Friesian horses. She adored the beauty of Knox County and spent more years there than anywhere else. She loved the community and the people who are "good, honest and down to earth."
Carolyn traveled the world visiting Russia, Hong Kong, China, Australia, New Zealand and Costa Rica, as well as much of the United States. Her life was full of love and beautiful experiences.
Carolyn had a wonderful sense of humor and she often said that if she could make someone laugh it simply made her day. She loved to laugh too and life provided her with many opportunities to do that. Her sense of humor along with her wit and charm always carried her through.
Carolyn will be deeply missed by her daughter Wendy Emery, grandchildren Benjamin and Christian Emery, all of Westerville, Ohio. She loved her grandsons and was so proud of the wonderful young men they were growing up to be. They had many adventures together with Bill 3 and at Crawford Acres. Carolyn always had words of wisdom for "her boys" about life and growing up.
Carolyn will also be greatly missed by her dear lifelong friend, Susie Smiley. They always had fun together and somehow managed to stay out of trouble. Carolyn stayed in contact with her niece Crystal Cooper and enjoyed their outings together. Her cousin Joyce Webb so thoughtfully planned get togethers with the other cousins and friends through the years and Carolyn was thankful to be able to attend these and loved the time spent with everyone.
Carolyn will also be missed by Brody, her loyal and devoted little dog. He moved to Columbus from the farm where he held his own with the horses in the pastures. He loved his visits with her at Wesley Glen along with the opportunity to sit on the furniture. In her eyes he could do no wrong.
It was difficult for Carolyn to leave her beloved Crawford Acres farm but she did and moved to Wesley Glen Assisted Living in Columbus, Ohio. Thanks to the caring staff and residents, she came to consider Wesley Glen her home. A special thank you to those who so thoughtfully and lovingly cared for Carolyn this past year and to those who offered their kindness and friendship to her. She was content and didn't want to be anywhere else.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Cooper; and husbands, William Anderson, William Hart and William Crawford. We always teased her about the obvious pattern with her husbands' names and she would never admit whether it was a coincidence or a requirement. They lovingly became known as Bill 1, Bill 2 and Bill 3.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16 - (NIV)
