Carolyn T. (Flood) Bader, 83, of Dublin Ohio, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born December 25, 1937, a daughter of the late Clark T. Flood and Bessie (Mignot) Flood. She was born in Clearfield, Pa, and grew up in Frenchville, Pa. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1955.
Carolyn retired in 1993 from the Defense Supply Center Columbus after a 25-year career with the Federal Government. She began her career working for the Navy Department in Washington, D.C. Following that she worked at the Charlestown (Mass.) Naval Shipyard, NAS South Weymouth, Mass., Fort Monmouth, N.J., and the Ohio National Guard at the Beightler Armory. She was a graduate of Franklin University.
She made many lifelong friends through her work and through her church. Carolyn was a member of Saint Peter Catholic Church for many years and was an active volunteer in various church groups there. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and dedicated a lot of her free time to her community to include the Dublin Food Pantry.
Driven by the love for her family, she enjoyed cooking special holiday dinners and serving her family. She was a natural caregiver. Carolyn loved to travel the country and abroad. She loved to spend her free time watching her grandchildren play sports, dance, and band competitions, and lunching with her friends and hosting her annual Kentucky Derby party. She especially enjoyed spending time with her wonderful neighbor Debbie Hague and good friend Diane Sliemers who have both been a significant part of her life.
Carolyn is survived by her three daughters Diane Bader-Lewis (Carlton T. "Ted") Lewis, Jr. of Gahanna, Denise (Scott) Malenky of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Karen Bader-Palmquist (Dennis Palmquist) of Delaware She was lovingly known as "Grammy" to her eight grandchildren, Kyle Burkhart, Makenzie (Shane) Page, Kory Burkhart, former son-in-law Timothy A. "Tim" Burkhart, Carlton T. "Trey" Lewis III, Brett (Jasmine) Lewis, Arden Palmquist, Adalena Palmquist, Brendan Palmquist; and three great-grandchildren, Parker, Finnlee and Beckham Page, with another great- grandson due in June. She is also survived by her sisters Joyce Salmond of Marietta, Ga., and Ann Schmoke of Karthus, Pa., sister-in-law Janice Bader-Phillips of So. Weymouth, Mass., Cousin Gladys Billotte Krantz of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by her former husband and father of her three daughters, David E. Bader of Worthington, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ted and Andy and sister Rosalie Saye.
A visitation for friends and family will be on April 26, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 p.m. Vigil at 6:30 p.m. at Schoedinger Funeral Home Worthington Chapel 6699 N. High Street, Worthington Ohio.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 27, 2021, 11 00 a.m. St. Peter Catholic Church 6899 Smoky Row Rd. Worthington, Ohio by Rev. Christopher Tuttle, Pastor. Burial will be private.
