Carla Coffman Fry, age 69, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Carla was born October 6, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Ruth Householder and raised by her aunt, the late Luella Pettengill. Carla graduated from Bexley High School, Class of 1964. She then went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors in Education in 1968 and a Masters in Early Childhood Education in 1974. While there she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and was later recognized by OSU as one of the top five female graduating students in the Class of 1968. Carla began her teaching career at Maryland Avenue Elementary in Bexley and then taught at Burbank Elementary School in Upper Arlington until 1974 when she decided to stay at home full time to care for her own children and family. Following, she worked many years with various school systems as a substitute teacher. Carla was an officer of Mortar Board, Past PTO President of Greensview Elementary School, member of Junior League, TWIG for Children’s Hospital, and OSU Women in Philanthropy, and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Above all else, family was what Carla was most passionate about. She enjoyed traveling and family vacations as well as the family tradition of attending every OSU home football game together. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Fry, Jr; children, Bryan (Amanda) Fry of Dublin, Bradley (Janine) Fry of Barcelona, Spain, and Alyssa Fry of Columbus; grandchildren, Lukas, Austin, Amelia, and Grant Fry; brother, Dan (Pat) Coffman; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 2-5pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. A memorial service, open to family and friends, celebrating Carla’s life will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11am at Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E.
