Cale Edward Singer, 86, of Columbus, OH, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Indian Trail, NC. He was born on March, 3, 1927 in Harrietsville, OH, the son of Henry and Flossie (Curtis) Singer. Cale grew up in Harrietsville and graduated from Harrietsville High School. After high school he joined the United States Army in 1950 serving in the Korean War and was discharged in 1953, achieving the rank of Private First Class. Cale began working for The Ohio State University as a Chef, where he retired after 35 years of service. He also worked at Nationwide Insurance for 35 years. Cale married Doris Jarrett on February 14, 1953 in Columbus, OH. They were happily married for 60 years. Cale was a member of the Church of Christ and served as a deacon. He enjoyed feeding the Homeless, serving as the treasurer for the Church, planting flowers, traveling with his family and being the number one fan for The Ohio State Buckeyes. He also received numerous awards from United States Army, The Ohio State University and Nationwide Insurance; in addition to several recognized from his local community, city and church for his outstanding service. Cale was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Flossie Singer; siblings Henry Singer, Celeste Young, Kenneth Singer, Esther Jackson, Estella Tyson, Oscar Singer and six other siblings that passed away in their adolescence. Cale is survived by his spouse Doris of Salty, GA; sister-in-law Dorothy Singer of Columbus, OH; son Michael(Sylvia) Singer of Columbus , OH; daughter Lucinda (Roger) Blake of Indian Trails, NC; grandchildren Roger(Latya) Blake of Grove City ,OH, Shayla (Marcus) Treadwell of Union City, TN and Kiana (Benjamin) Missick of Indian Trail, NC; great-grandchildren Taylan Treadwell, Tatiana Blake, Keirsten Treadwell, Alexander Blake and Madison Missick; and his nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 6-9pm, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Genessee Church of Christ, 1889 Genessee Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211; where a funeral service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, August 28, 2013 with Brother Clyde Sales officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Church of Christ Grace B. Black "Soldiers of Life" Foundation.
