Bonnie “Bonz” Hopkins, 64, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011. She was born January 18, 1947 in Berea, the second oldest of the “Farmer Girls”. Bonz moved to Columbus as a teenager and attended Whetstone High School.
She was previously employed with Marte Pontiac, Aire-Flo, and Delve Marketing Research. Bonz was a member of the Hosebags and Spice Girls. She loved animals and supported a lot of environmental and animal organizations.
Bonz was loving, compassionate, happy-go-lucky, best friend to many, trustworthy, put others before herself and accepted everyone with open arms. Bonz loved to cook big family dinners always making enough to take home. She loved spending time with Roger riding with him on his Harley. Bonz loved the ocean and took her last trip with her sisters to Nags Head this summer. Bonz was well loved and will be dearly missed by many family members and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eleanor Farmer and dear German Shepherd, Bear. Bonz will be missed by her loving husband of almost 33 years, Roger; son, Shawn Slivinski, daughter, Heather Slivinski (fiancé Terry Baker); granddaughter, Amber Slivinski; sisters, Barbara (Marty) Bakken, Becky (Dan) Cesner, and Beverly Atwood; father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Wanda Hopkins; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family, special friends, and surrogate kids.
The funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, 2011 at 4 p.m. followed by visitation and reception from 5-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Columbus (Just south of I-270). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Roger Hopkins on behalf of Bonnie in order to help her to arrive to her final journey.
