Betty J. Ruby, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Laurels of Hilliard. Betty was born on August 6, 1936 in Dover, Ohio to Loyal and Florence Davidson. She graduated from Dover High School and later moved to Columbus. Betty stayed home to raise her two sons. She had a passion for music and taught piano and trumpet. Betty was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church for 50+ years and was the Choir and Bell director for 24 years. She retired from Bank One. She was active in the Gad-A-Bouts, Red Hat Society, and Corinthian Chapter #393 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities, bowling, collecting Betty Boop items and watches. She loved sports, especially all the Ohio teams. Preceded in death by her mother, Florence Davidson; father and step-mother, Loyal and Dorothy Davidson; and brother, Earl Davidson. Survived by her loving husband, Robert Ruby of 60 years; sons, Doug (Tammy) Ruby and David (Patty) Ruby; grandchildren, Chelsea (Thomas) Moody, Brennan Ruby (fiancé Brittany Knapmeyer), Andrew Ruby and Taylor Ruby; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Glenwood United Methodist Church, 2833 Valleyview Drive, Columbus, OH 43204, where funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 with Pastor Jeffrey Mullinix and Andrew Hoover officiating.
