A memorial service for Betty Zane Hufford, 91 of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. A private burial will be held in the family section of Dew Cemetery in Perry County at a later date.
Betty was born in Glouster, Ohio on August 4, 1920 to the late John Cromwell and Dolores M. Ryan Holland. She passed away at the Autumn Heath Care on December 26, 2011.
Betty married the love of her life, Charles, on December 23, 1939. She loved spending time with her husband, her children, family and friends. She enjoyed reading, music, traveling, and camping. She had been a Sunday school and bible school teacher; Brownie troop leader; founding member of the 3 Star Senior Center in Glouster, Ohio; and prior member of the County Music Association. Betty was a true stay at home homemaker. Betty and Charles used to raise a large garden with Betty canning and freezing what was grown. Betty and her husband Charles wintered in Arizona for many years.
Survivors include her children, Dottie Z. (Roy) Kearton, Gordon Lee Hufford and Kristi A. (Robin) DeLoach; grandchildren, Barbie, Janine, Doug, Jimmie, Chad, Joyce Ann, Brian, Roger, Brent, Jason, Josh and Casey; Brothers, George Holland, Amos (Betty) Holland, James(Carolyn) Holland; brother in law, Brice Westfall; daughter in law Barbara Hufford; and close friend, Diana Hufford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; one son, Charles Benjamin; grandson, Benji; brothers, sisters and spouses, Robert (Ruth), John (Mary), Harry, Danny, Wanda Westfall and Elizabeth (Charles) Kennedy.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty to the Carol Shawn Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
