Bettie J Smith

Bettie J. Smith, age 89, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her husband and son by her side on Saturday June 10, 2017. Bettie was born on July 7, 1927 in Rushylvania, Ohio, to the late John and Maude Rumer. Graduate of Bellefontaine High School class of 1945. Bettie retired from the banking industry, as a teller supervisor after 27 years. She was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church, an active member in the Senior Saints Choir, and enjoyed the Senior Lunch Bunch. Preceded in death by, her parents; son, Dennis Smith; and siblings, Pat Hohtanz and Emmitt Harvey. Survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Alvin Smith; son, David (Donna) Smith, grandchildren, Zachary, Nick, and Emma; a host of friends and special friend, Helen Schonhardt. Family will receive friends on Wednesday June 14, 2017 from 4-7pm at the Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43232. A service will be held the following day at 11am at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1200 Waggoner Rd. Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 43068. Pastor Karl Hanf officiating. Entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
