Barbara Lou Engler

Barbara "Babs" (Strete) Engler, age 87, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 3, 1930 to the late Allen and Edith Belle (Blodgett) Strete in Columbus. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church for 58 years. Babs worked for many years as a Poll worker for Franklin County. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lee Charles Engler and sisters, Ruth Mercer Hilbert and Annie Rainey Baird. She is survived by loving children, Gary, Jim (Carolyn), Ruth (Bill) Kingery, Steve (Nadine), Don (Johanna) and Lori; 11 grandchildren, Chris (Kathy) Leuszler, Jason (Beth) Engler, Jamie (Cheyenne) Boggs, Josh (Tamera) Engler, Evan (fiancé Erica) Engler, Ashley (Jeremy) Swetnam, Aaron (fiancé Tori) Engler, Matthew (Abi) Engler, Elijah Kingery, Daniel Engler, Philip Engler; 11 Great-grandchildren, Natalie Crago, Alex Engler, Haley Engler, Alli Rayne Engler, Elizabeth MacLees, Alexis Boggs, Sarah Engler, August Engler, Benjamin Engler , Zane Boggs, Eleanor Swetnam; nephews, Larry (Diane) and John (Beverly) Baird and niece, Diane (Bob) Kistler. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1479 Morse Road, where family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road.
