He was born in Columbus September 5, 1936, the son of Ralph and Ella Brown Fravel. He married Carol Redicker December 20, 1959 in Seymour.
After 29 years, Wayne retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1987 as Director of National Accounts; following retirement he was a District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans.
His calling in life was teaching and preaching the Gospel. Wayne was a Bible study teacher for many years and made five mission trips to Africa and one to Israel. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church.
For recreation he enjoyed golf and playing bridge.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years; daughter, Kimberly (Allan) Miller of Columbus; son, Bradley (Catherine) Fravel of Blacksburg, VA; sister, Virginia Vela of Ventura, CA; grandchildren, Rachael (Ben) Eckert of Delaware, OH, Mitchell Miller of Columbus, and Emma, Anna and Eric Fravel of Blacksburg,
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori Ann Dobbins; and brother, Ralph L. Fravel.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Community Church, 9550 N 700 W Elizabethtown, IN, with Pastor Tracy McIntyre officiating. Visitation is 4~8 p.m. Monday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Private burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour.
