Thomas Pace Smith Sr.

Thomas Pace Smith, Sr., 74 of Columbus died unexpectedly Sunday evening, 7-19-15 at 10:01 p. m. in Columbus Regional Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on 9-28-40, Tom was the son of Robert Raymond and Louise Leslie Smith. He married Dixie Lou Stiles on 11-22-69 in Brown County. Tom owned and operated of Tom Smith Glass Co. Inc. which opened in 1970 and was incorporated in 1971. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, an IU graduate with a degree in Business, Past Governor of Sertoma in Columbus, a 50 year member of Columbus Moose Family Center, an avid golfer, boater and had bowled in various bowling leagues. The funeral service for Tom will be Friday 7-24-15 at 6:00 p. m. at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St. with Fr. Andy Syberg officiating. There will be a Moose Memorial Service following the funeral. Calling will be from 3-6:00 at the funeral home. In keeping with Toms’ wishes, cremation is planned. Tom is survived by his wife, Dixie Lou Stiles Smith of Columbus; children, Christine Smith Riddle & Larry Vasser, TN, Dixie Smith Harris & Roger Cline, Nashville, Tom & Shannon Smith, Columbus and Amber Smith Nicholes, Columbus, Dean & Denise Bay, Robin Bay Penrose, Cindy Bay Fant, all of North Vernon ; son-in-law, Denny Day; brothers and sisters, Leslie Smith Bauldauf & Chuck, NC, Ann Smith Phillips & Andy, FL, Bob Smith, Pittsburgh, Karen Smith Blockinger, Pittsburgh, Greg Smith, Dick & Kathy Smith, all of St. Louis and Debbie Smith Hamilton, Pittsburgh; 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Marie Smith Day, a sister, Christine Smith Leslie, brother-in-law Larry Blockinger.
