Mrs. Elam was born April 04, 1944 in Columbus, IN. the daughter of the late James Arthur Turner and the late Ruby Icie (Hacker) Turner Taylor.
Mrs. Elam was a 1962 Columbus High School Graduate. She had worked for Arvin Industries, Little Champ Oil Company and on the assembly line at Cummins Engine Company.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving caregiver for several of her family members including her mother. Mrs. Elam attended the former Love Chapel Missions Church.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Elam will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. with Rev. Jerry K. Day, Sr. officiating. Soloist will be Amy Marchand and the organist will be Shirley Day.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Turner, Brent Turner II, Doug Elam, Carl and Jim Turner and Larry, Ron and David Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Martin and Rieley Turner.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Alzheimer’s Association or the Bible Church of Columbus.

Surviving are a daughter, Michele Lee Martin of Columbus, IN.; a son, Brent Allen Turner of Columbus, IN.; her husband, Doug Elam of Columbus, IN.; two step-daughters, Dedra Abts of Columbus, IN. and Heather Green of Los Angeles, CA.; a sister, Patricia “Patty” Osborne of Columbus, IN.; six brothers, Carl (Vicki Bode) and Charles “Dink” (Nora) Turner and Ronald “Ron” (Laura), Larry (Nita) and David (Melinda) Taylor all of Columbus, IN. and James “Jim” Turner of Franklin, IN.; three grandchildren, Brent Allen Turner II, Jacob Allen Martin and Rieley Joseph Turner all of Columbus, IN.: three step-grandchildren, Makenzie Elam, Owen Green and Hannah Abts all of Columbus, IN. and over 40 nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Elam was also preceded in death by her sister, Corrine Duckworth.
