Nancy Schumann Columbus Nancy Eleanor Snyder Schumann, 86 years old, died August 1, 2015. Nancy, the daughter of Ethel Cato and Joseph Paul Snyder, was born in Princeton Indiana, April 16, 1929. A 1947 graduate of Princeton High School, and 1951 graduate of the IU School of Music. She married Ralph E. Schumann on June 19, 1954 in Princeton, IN. She taught elementary music in the Columbus City schools until she retired to raise her family. Nancy is survived by her husband Ralph and children, daughter Marilynn Cullison (Thomas, Rear Admiral, US Navy retired), son Fritz William Schumann (Anne Thiesen), daughters Sally Hirsch (Daniel) and Kathy Kok (Hans); six grandchildren: Catherine Cullison Culver (Matthew), Andy Cullison, Natalie and Claire Schumann, Caden Hirsch and Will Kok. Nancy was active in the First United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir for over 60 years and directed the Children’s Choir for several years. Nancy was a director of the Vacation Bible School many years ago and also served on the Board of Trustees. She was elected to the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation Board and served in that capacity for 16 years. She was a member of PEO, Kappa Kappa Kappa, Let’s Grow Garden Club, The Research Club, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota Music Society and Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teacher society. A gathering of family and friends for a celebration of her life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 16, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary at 618 Eighth St., Columbus, IN. 47201 with Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Reflections and refreshments will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Cremation was entrusted to The Columbus Crematory and a private inurnment will be in the Garland Brook Cemetery on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church Choir Music Fund or the First United Methodist Church Schumann Piano Performance Fund.
