Marguerite was born on June 16, 1920 in Edinburgh, Indiana to Ewing and Jesse Pauline Loehr Richards on a farm which is now part of Camp Atterbury. Her father passed away when Marguerite was very young, and her mother then moved to Columbus with her two daughters, Marguerite and Jane.
Marguerite married Forrest Brent Miller and they had a son, Grant, in 1947. She then raised Grant as a single mother, working for many years at the Bell Telephone Company in Columbus as a telephone operator. She had been a member of the Indiana Bell Telephone Pioneers during her employment and after her retirement.
Marguerite was a sweet, gentle person who had an easy laugh and enjoyed being with people. She lived alone until she was 98 years old. She was alert, happy, and energetic until her death.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her son, L. Grant Miller; her parents; her step-father, George Ritz; her sister, Elnora Jane Padgett; and her companion of 60 plus years Robert Birk who she shared many happy times with. She is survived by her former daughter-in-law Cynthia Burr (Ian) of Nashville, TN with whom she maintained a close relationship ad delighted in spending time together.
