Kathryn Irene Carr, 92, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Belmont Health and Rehabilitation. Kathryn was born December 2, 1931 in Rockford, Indiana to parents Lawrence and Velva Abell. She graduated from Cortland High School in 1949.
Kathryn married John William (Bill) Carr on November 12, 1949 in Brownstown, Indiana and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1993.
She enjoyed baking wedding cakes, crafts, and making her famous Peanut Brittle. She also enjoyed traveling the lower 48 of the country.
Kathryn was a member of Grandview HomeEc Club and the County Homemakers Club where she served many offices. She was also a member of Ogilville Church of Christ.
Kathryn is survived by her children, William Dennis (Sandra) Carr of Columbus, Randall Wayne (Cindy) of Montgomery, IN, Kevin Joe (Lissa) of Columbus, and Jon Anthony (Stephanie) of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Moorman; sister-in-law Mary Abell; and brother-in-law Wilbert (Shirley) Carr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Martha Norris; and brother, Lawrence Abell
A funeral service for Kathryn will be held Friday, December 29 at 1 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial Donations in her name may be made to American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
