Jami was born on April 8, 1952 in Terre Haute, IN to Jack and Bev Snider. The oldest of four, she was a natural born leader with the ability to make fast friends with nearly anyone. She attended Ball State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and later completed a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University. She went on to be an immensely dedicated classroom teacher for over 30 years, always recognizing her past students and them recognizing her, no matter how long it had been since she had had them in class.
Like her dedication to her students, was her incredible devotedness to her family. She absolutely thrived as a mother, wife, aunt, sister, and her most recent title of Mimi. She went above and beyond every day to ensure that everyone in her family knew how much she loved them, whether it was a phone call, card, helping hand, or going way overboard on gifts for her two grandchildren, she was constantly in a giving and selfless state of mind.
In the years since her stroke, Jami consistently showed immense strength through every obstacle thrown her way, always taking on each day with humor and resilience. Her outgoing and infectious spirit seemed to always bring laughter and smiles from her nurses, doctors, and anyone she encountered. With her daughter as her partner in crime, she was able to continue living life to the fullest through these harder years – taking jeep rides, having movie nights and playing dress up with her grandchildren, sunbathing by the pool, spending too much money at Target, going on Starbucks runs, and having dance parties to 70’s rock in the car on long drives to appointments.
Jami is preceded in passing by her husband of 28 years, John; her parents, Jack and Bev; and a sister, Holli Miske.
She is survived by her daughter, Hayley Smith, and husband Gary Smith; beloved granddaughters, Molly and Neely Smith; sister, Terri Bord and husband Dillon Bord; brother, Jay Snider and wife Pennie Snider; and brother-in-law, Mike Miske. Also surviving are nieces, Sarah (Dewayne) Mullins, Lindsey (Jake) Fitzsimmons, Jenny (Todd) Clemens; nephews, Clayton Snider and Cole Snider, Jason (Emily) Bord; great-nieces and great-nephews, Ellie, Maggie, Jack, and Cale Fitzsimmons, Annie and June Bord, Carter and Cami Clemens.
