He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1951. Additionally in 1951, he married Loraine LeMay in Crittenden, Kentucky. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2012.
James was a hard-worker and did whatever he had to do to make sure his family was taken care of. He worked for the United States postal service for 35 years before retiring, but throughout the years he often worked two jobs to support his family.
He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and watching NASCAR. Most of all, he loved his family and loved spending time with them.
James is survived by his children, Karen (Ted) Lucas, James "Jim" (Ronna) Flynn, Jerry (Carolyn) Flynn, and John (Vicki) Flynn; his grandchildren, Joshua and Joel Flynn, Micky (Lisa) Flynn, Lori Flynn, Dawn (Craig) Bolte, Wendy, Becky, and Cindy, Jeremy Flynn, and Jeff (Nichole) Flynn; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Loraine.
A graveside service for James will be held Monday, January 15, at 1 p.m. at the Garland Brook Mausoleum Chapel with Jerry Flynn officiating.
