Helen Marjorie North

Helen Marjorie Sciarra North, 91 of Columbus, died Tuesday morning at Keepsake Village of Columbus at 3:50 a. m. Born in Seymour on 8-22-24, Helen was the daughter of Fedele and Helen Cooley Sciarra. She married Maurice D. “Jay” North on 11-24-46 in Seymour. He preceded her in death on 12-5-08.

Helen was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church where she volunteered in many capacities and sang in the church choir. Over her lifetime, she had served as an executive secretary for Home Federal Savings and Loan, now Old National Bank and Trust and American National Bank in Noblesville. She was a ’42 graduate of Seymour High School and enjoyed quilting, golf and bowling.

Surviving Helen are her children; Barbara Dunlap of Columbus, Linda (Dave) Schuder, Nashville, Rita (Larry) Smeyak, Lafayette and Dana (Colleen) North, Columbus; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be celebrated 10:00 a. m. Monday, 9-21-15 by Fr. Andy Syberg at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 2-5:00 Sunday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Helen may be sent to St. Bartholomew Catholic School or Church.
