Geneva G. "Gene" Sonnefeld

Geneva G "Gene" Sonnefeld , 92, of North Vance Street, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 2:45a.m. at Keepsake Village. Mrs Sonnefeld was born on a farm on Sweet Ireland Road ( now 300w) on June 18, 1921, the daughter of Henry E. and Anna Thayer Smith. She married Rolly E. Sonnefeld on May 31, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky. They were married for 72 years until his death in 2012.

She was a homemaker and a great seamstress who loved to cook, can, work in her garden and cut grass. she worked for many years at B & B shoes. she was a member of New Hope christian church.

A private graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Garland Brook Cemetery

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central lndiana.

She is survived by a son, Larry E. Sonnefeld, and a daughter, Sonnie Brock, both of Columbus, lN; a grandson Shawn (Cindy) Brock of lndianapolis, lN; a granddaughter, Shannon (Gary) Thalls of Columbus, lN; five great-grandchildren, Kortney, Kami and Brock Thalls, all of Columbus, lN and Elayna and Orin Brock both of lndianapolis, IN.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Sonnefeld was also preceded in death by her husband of 72 years,Rolly E. Sonnefeld; brothers Clyde, Walter, Morris and Carl Smith, and sisters Mary Edna Rager and Henrietta Waltz; a son-in -law, Michael H Brock; and a great-grandson, Jacob Matthew Thalls.
