Edna was born in Evansville July 26, 1929, the daughter of Edwin and Gertrude Klenck Neuman. She married Col. Darvin R. Appel April 1, 1951; he preceded her in death June 11, 1982. She then married Herman Robert “Bob” Maurer; he preceded her June 11, 2000.
She was a long time Welcome Wagon Hostess in Columbus and retired from the Dental Office of Drs. Schultz and Fishvogt where she was a receptionist. She was a member of Columbus First United Methodist Church, Psi Iota Xi sorority. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, she was famous for her wonderful pies and was an avid cat lover.
Edna is survives by son, David (DeeDee) Appel of Bloomington; daughter, Kathy (Tom) Dell of Columbus; grandchildren, Spencer Dell of Indianapolis and Alec Appel of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; sisters, Ellen Luker and Pat Glover; brother, James Neuman.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday Four Seasons Retirement Center Chapel with Pastor Richard Holdeman officiating. Visitation will be 4~8 p.m. Friday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 1:00 p.m. to service time Saturday at Four Seasons Chapel. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
