Mr. Groene was born August 20, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Stanley and Leta Barrick Groene. He married Joan McNeely; she survives.
He was a salesman for plywood and furniture manufacturers, retiring from Aetna Plywood in Indianapolis. He enjoyed photography, bicycling and traveling. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife Joan of Columbus; daughter Annalee Huey of Columbus; son, Daniel (Lela) Groene of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Spencer, Caitlin and Jennifer Huey and Matthew Groene.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Groene.
A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Four Seasons Retirement Center Chapel with Chaplin Karen Hargett officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
