Obituary of David Ray Temple

David Ray Temple, 60, of Columbus, died at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. A 1971 graduate of Columbus North High School, David was a regional distributer for Snap-on Tools in the Columbus and Seymour region. He had received several awards from Snap-on for meeting sales quotas and had also received several National Futurity Awards and the National Champion Award. He was an avid horse breeder, was a member of the Indiana Quarter Horse Association and Buckskin Quarter Horse Association and showed quarter horses at many events. He enjoyed having time with his grandchildren, NASCAR racing, being outdoors working with horses, fishing and hunting and was a "Trekkie." Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Jeff Spann officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Oncology Department at Columbus Regional Hospital, through the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com. David was born in Columbus Feb. 11, 1953, the son of Lester M. and Norma J. Scalf Temple. He married Janeen "Jan" White Dec. 3, 1994, in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Norma J. Scalf (Earl) Spurling of Columbus; daughters, Erika (Ian) Bannen of Fishers and Andrea (Tim) Matray of San Francisco, CA; stepsons, Tom (Jennifer) Rager and Andy (Melissa) Rager, both of Columbus; a brother, Stephen (Bonnie) Temple of Columbus; two sisters, Tricia (Steve) White and Jeania Temple, both of Columbus; and grandchildren, Lilly Wilson, Logun Rager, Adycin Rager, Lyla Rager and Blake Rager, all of Columbus.
